Boba Fett was "off limits" for Solo: A Star Wars Story
Few characters from the Star Warsuniverse of discourse have had the staying power of Boba Fett. The disguised H.M.S. Bounty hunter's first show inThe Empire Strikes Supportwas hardly more than a cameo — Fett had a grand total of four lines and less than seven minutes of riddle time, according to Disney+'s new Under the Helmet: The Legacy of Boba Fettfeaturette. As yet there was just something about him that captured the imaginativeness of fans. Even earlier Disney bought Lucasfilm and started turbulent out newStar Warsprojects left and right wing, there were still new stories about him. From seeing him as a kid in 2002'sAttack of the Clonesto Josh Trank's aborted Boba Fett spinoff film, the bounty Hunter has simply refused to die.
And yesterday, he finally got his own show withThe Book of Boba Fetton Disney+. Temeura Morrison, who played Fett in season 2 ofThe Mandalorian As well equally his knockoff-daddy Jango Fett in the prequel trilogy, returns to the use and is doing a killer job exploring the depths of this painting character.
Now that the Fett's out of the Sarlac (no-account, I couldn't help myself), we're getting all sorts of new information on the journey he's taken to get to this point, including the very interesting tidbit that Lucasfilm and Disney have held Boba Fett back from other projects in order to proceed their options open.

Lucasfilm didn't allow Solo: A Ace Wars filmmakers to use Boba Fett
Han dynasty Alone, the smuggler with a center of gold played by Harrison Ford in the groundbreaking Star Warstrilogy, has quite a little of story with Boba Fett. As you'll recall, Fett originally came into theWhiz Warsmovies specifically to hunt Solo down during The Conglomerate Strikes Back. Helium was the incomparable responsible for delivery the captain of the Millennium Falcon to the palace of Jabba the Hutt. InReturn of the Jedi, luck swung back in Solo's direction when he by chance knocked Boba Fett into the pit of the Sarlac, an enormous puppet that lives on the desert planet Tatooine which digests its victims really slowly and painfully. That, it appeared, was the stop of Boba Fett.
So it should come American Samoa little surprise that when Han dynasty Solo was getting his own spinoff in2022'sUnaccompanied: A Star Wars Story, the estimation of including Boba Fett was floated. After all,Unaccompaniedenclosed parts for Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca. Wherefore non drop Boba into the mix?
As it turns out, the cause the bounty hunter ne'er appeared in that film was because Lucasfilm wouldn't allow it. Per SyFy Wire,Solowriter Jonathan Kasden recalled that during the production of the photographic film, "Boba was always inactive limits because he was in development elsewhere."
It's not clear where that "elsewhere" was, merely IT seems like a relatively prophylactic bet that the studio might ingest already had its eye along Fett's eventual inclusion inThe Mandalorian.Disney is pretty good at scoping down which of its characters are ripe for more than screen prison term, and then of course they would know what they had in Boba Fett. After all, fans had been clamour to see Thomas More of the guy for almost 40 years.
I think we can all agree that this turned out for the topper. The Book of Boba Fett's first episode was pretty solid. Given the choice, I'd gladly take that ended a horseshoe-horned cameo in some other jut. Finally, the bounty hunter gets his due.
Whether the residents of Mos Espa are American Samoa happy about it, well, we'll just have to wait until Instalment 2 premieres following Wednesday to find out.
